What is OWB?
Origyn Web Browser is a web browser designed for CE devices such as mobile phones, portable media players, Set Top Boxes and TV decoders, and any other consumer electronic product (GPS, home-gateways, Web-radios, PVR, DVD recorders, wireless devices etc.)
What is AROS?
The AROS Research Operating System is a lightweight, efficient and flexible desktop operating system, designed to help you make the most of your computer. It's an independent, portable and free project, aiming at being compatible with AmigaOS 3.1 at the API level (like Wine, unlike UAE), while improving on it in many areas. The source code is available under an open source license, which allows anyone to freely improve upon it.
What is OWB for AROS?
AROS port of Origyn Web Browser is a Zune-based application created by Stanisław Szymczyk as one of the requirements of Port an Open Source Browser To AROS bounty. It's using OWB encapsulated in a Zune class as a rendering engine.
Getting Sources
AROS-specific changes made to original OWB sources are currently contained within a patch maintained in AROS Subversion repository. Later they will be incorporated into OWB source code. Sources of Zune-based browser are maintained in AROS Subversion repository.
To get the patch and the browser sources download contrib sources snapshot from AROS download page.
Compiling
Building of OWB for AROS is possible from within the AROS build system. Issue
make aros-tcpip-apps-owb
command to build OWB for AROS.
Running
OWB for AROS requires AROS build from 19.02.2009 or newer to run. If your AROS installation is older and you don't want to reinstall the whole system, you can try updating only arosc.library and muimaster.library, but there's no guarantee that it will work correctly.
Starting from 24.03.2009 AROS contains updated codesets.library that is incompatible with the previous version. Updated library will cause OWB to crash (see ticket #43), so if you want to use OWB on recent AROS builds you have to replace codesets.library with a previous version from some older build or Icaros distribution. Starting with 0.9.3 release OWB will work correctly with the updated codesets.library.
Before bugfixes from 06.06.2009 AROS C library returned time in local time zone instead of UTC. Because of this using OWB 0.9.4 and newer with AROS versions older than 06.06.2009 may cause premature expiration of cookies.
If you can't move bookmark entries in bookmark manager you have too old muimaster.library. Version from 19.06.2009 or newer is needed.
